Two-formed Bumble Bee (Bombus bifarius) at tall silvercrown flower, eastern Washington

Tall silvercrown (Cacaliopsis nardosmia) blooms in the understory of Ponderosa pine forests in eastern Washington. It can be locally abundant, including roadsides and clearings where sufficient sunlight penetrates the forest canopy. Many pollinators including bees and butterflies are attracted to the flowers.
